Sorry for the silence

To anyone who has contacted me from Nov 1st through Dec 31st, a thousand apologies for my tardiness in responding; I had to have a surgical operation (completely unrelated to the skin stuff) that ended up not healing right, so the past couple months have been a bit of a nightmare… and I just have not had the time or energy to return every comment and e-mail. I’m so very sorry about that. I will try to catch up on everything through the course of January 2014. – Chris

  1. Thanks Chris for posting your story. I don’t know if you will see this as you haven’t posted in several months but I figured I would give it a try. My daughter has had MC for about 7 months now. As many other people stated her doctor just told it to let it run its course. Up until recently, it had not spread but stayed just a few spots on her bottom. About a month ago is started to spread. Now her bottom is covered and she has a few lesions on one of her legs. I need to do something before it gets out of hand. I tried zymaderm with no luck. After reading your blog yesterday I bought some 100% tea tree oil from HEB and started treating her last night. You stated the area needs to stay dry, which is not possible for her. It is not only on her bottom but she actually has to spread her little cheeks part to treat all the lesions. (sorry for the tmi). She is a sweaty kid who is going to day camp every day in Houston Texas. I am afraid the tea tree oil will not work if she is sweaty all the time. Here is my question: Should I put baby powder in her underwear in the morning to keep her dry? Will this make the lesions worse? Thanks for any advice you can give.

    • A little powder couldn’t hurt, I suppose. Another option is ordering some Recreo Powder – recreopowder.com – I use that on my little girl, and it helps naturally, quite well.

If there’s going to be sweating, just try not to let it linger; quick showers after athletic activity help, if there’s drying off right afterwards. At camp I know that’s tough, so it may be best to avoid the sweatier activities if at all possible. I know that’s not easy to hear, but I hope this helps, and I hope my comment doesn’t come too late.
